Job summary

NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) in The Hague, Netherlands, is recruiting a Principal Solution Engineer to drive AirC2 software products and services. You will join the AirC2 Centre to enable NATO’s 24/7 air defense missions through integrated, lifecycle-supported systems and services.

The role emphasizes solution architecture, requirements management, and engineering leadership across large software-intensive systems, with a Master’s or equivalent and substantial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers and manage system/software engineering on large mission-critical software-intensive systems.
  • Oversee system/software architectures, operating systems, deployment infrastructure and network concepts.
  • Apply system/software development, maintenance, integration and deployment concepts.
  • Ensure data management, incident handling and lifecycle support for NATO integrated air command and control systems.
  • Collaborate across AirC2 Center to deliver integrated products for NATO’s 24/7 air defense missions.

About the job:

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join The Air Command and Control (AirC2) Business Area. The AirC2 Centre delivers planning, development, procurement, implementation and In-Service Support of NATO authorised AirC2 capabilities across the Alliance and bilaterally in the European Nations of the Alliance, satisfying the operational requirements, assuring the coherence, integrity and interoperability of the involved NATO and national systems and sub-systems.

In doing so, the AirC2 Centre contributes to NATO's Integrated Air and Missile Defence operations and continuously evolves NATO authorised systems and services to empower seamless, resilient and adaptable NATO operations in a multi domain environment.

We are now recruiting for a Principal Solution Engineer to bring expertise to the Product Development and Maintenance Area within The AirC2 System Products Service area, which is dedicated to the development, deployment, maintenance, and support of NATO’s integrated air command and control systems. Our team of AirC2 experts deliver integrated products essential for NATO’s 24/7 air defence missions. We ensure the complete life-cycle support of these critical systems, providing comprehensive services for incident management, exercise support, data management, training and sensor tuning. You will join a team of AirC2 experts delivering integrated products essential for NATO’s 24/7 air defense missions.

We are seeking expertise in the following areas:

  • Solution architecture
  • Requirements definition and management
  • Systems development management

About you

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role will include:

Education:

A minimum requirement of a Master’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 5 years post-related experience. Or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years post related experience.

Experience:
  • Proven experience in the leadership and management of a team of engineers;
  • Recent practical experience in managing system/software engineering activities on large mission critical software intensive systems;
  • Knowledge of system/software architectures, operating systems, deployment infrastructure and network concepts;
  • Knowledge of system/software engineering related methods, techniques, metrics and tools;
  • Knowledge of system/software development, maintenance, integration and deployment concepts;
  • Knowledge of database management systems and data management concepts
