Job summary

shortlistd.io is seeking a Principal NLP Scientist to drive the design, research, and deployment of advanced NLP and LLM capabilities across core production systems. You will bridge research and product impact, turning state-of-the-art NLP into reliable, scalable workflows for electronic supply chains.

You will lead technical direction, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior ML/NLP engineers, contributing to a high-impact, production-focused language automation platform.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in ML/AI/NLP.
• 5+ years building, deploying and maintaining NLP models for production.
• Strong understanding of modern neural architectures and NLP tasks.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, and production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define the scientific and technical direction for NLP/LLM capabilities across internal platforms.
• Design, evaluate, and scale NLP solutions for NER, text classification, text generation, semantic search, document understanding, and information extraction.
• Lead design and deployment of LLMs, hybrid RAG pipelines, and semantic search architectures.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, product managers, and data teams to build language-driven automation systems.
• Design rigorous experiments, establish evaluation baselines, and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Lead data strategy for training data, annotation guidelines, and model validation quality.
• Mentor junior ML/NLP team members.
