Job summary

Sezzle is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, operate, and scale our platform. The role focuses on high‑throughput, low‑latency systems, ownership of architecture, and AI‑assisted tooling for incident investigation.

You will work with AWS, Kubernetes, and Aurora RDS (MySQL/Postgres), manage on‑call incidents, and drive cost‑effective improvements while ensuring reliability at scale. Sezzle offers a dynamic fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
• 12+ years of experience across infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering at scale.
• Deep expertise with AWS, Kubernetes, and relational databases (Aurora MySQL/Postgres).
• Strong coding and automation skills in Golang or Python; IaC with Terraform.
• Experience in operating 24/7 high-availability platforms and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture and evolution of core infrastructure to support increasing traffic and data volume.
• Design and operate AWS infrastructure, including IAM, networking, and multi-AZ/region considerations.
• Build and manage the Kubernetes platform with autoscaling, reliability, and deployments.
• Scale Aurora RDS for MySQL/Postgres, optimize queries and replication, plan capacity.
• Improve reliability with SLOs, error budgets, and safe failure handling; participate in on-call.
• Develop AI-assisted tooling for incident investigation and runbook automation.
• Deliver code and infrastructure-as-code changes, with thorough validation and rollback plans.
