University of Groningen invites a postdoctoral researcher to develop graphite from renewable aromatic hydrocarbons. The role focuses on isolating and converting carbon streams to mesophase carbon and graphitic materials for carbon fibre applications, working in the Green Chemical Reaction Engineering group.
You will plan experiments, report results, and participate in team activities while ensuring safe lab practices and contributing to project milestones.
A postdoctoral position is available in the Green Chemical Reaction Engineering group of Prof. Peter J. Deuss, where the postdoc is expected to characterize and convert isolated and purified carbon streams to mesophase carbon and graphitic materials for carbon fibre applications.
Postdoctoral researcher: Graphite from Renewable Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Graphite is considered a critical material for Europe because it is essential for strategic clean-tech and multiple industrial applications, while Europe is highly dependent on imports with concentrated supply risks. The Graphene project is a partnership between BioBTX, Teijin Europe, ISPT, the university of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Science, which aims to develop and optimize the production of graphite from side-streams from the BioBTX Integrated Cascading Catalytic Pyrolysis process based on waste plastics.
