Job summary

Amsterdam UMC Research BV invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to design and implement multimodal AI architectures for cardiovascular applications. You will develop synthetic data to augment sparse modalities and create joint optimization frameworks for cross-modal representations.

You will validate models with clinical datasets in collaboration with cardiologists and mentor PhD/MSc students, presenting findings at international conferences and potentially starting your own

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field (CS/AI/biomedical engineering).
  • Strong programming in Python; experience with PyTorch; HPC experience a plus.
  • Experience in medical image analysis; multimodal learning is a plus.
  • Publication record in top AI/ML or medical informatics venues (NeurIPS, MICCAI, SPIE, Nature portfolio).
  • Experience with clinical healthcare data systems is a plus.

About your role

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will:

  • Design and implement novel multimodal AI architectures for cardiovascular applications;
  • Develop synthetic data generation methods to augment sparse modalities;
  • Create frameworks for joint optimization of cross-modal representations;
  • Validate models using clinical datasets in collaboration with cardiologists;
  • Mentor PhD and MSc students and present findings at international conferences;
  • Intention to apply for grants to expand our group, and potentially start your own research group.
About you
  • You have a PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Biomedical Engineering, or related field;
  • You demonstrate strong programming skills in Python and have experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch (experience with high performance computing infrastructures is a plus);
  • You have experience in medical image analysis (multimodal learning experience is a plus);
  • You have a publication track record in top AI/ML or medical informatics venues such as NeurIPS, MICCAI, or SPIE Medical Imaging and/or in translational venues such as Nature portfolio journals (Nature Medicine, Nature Cardiovascular Medicine, npj Digital Medicine) ;
  • Experience with clinical healthcare data systems is a plus.
Our offer
  • You will be employed by Amsterdam UMC Research BV.
  • A contract for 12 months with the option to extend by mutual agreement
  • Classification in salary scale 10, €3.724 to €5.867 gross for full-time employment (depending on experience). In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here.
  • Holiday hours: 194.4 per year for full time and a possibility to save additional hours.
  • 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs. If you travel by foot, bicycle, or car, a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km applies (up to a maximum of 40 km one way by car).
