Job summary

Delft University of Technology seeks a postdoctoral researcher to advance multi-scale mechanobiology models of cardiac growth and remodeling within the VITAL project. You will implement bio-chemo-mechanical laws in FE frameworks, couple tissue mechanics to systemic inputs, and contribute to patient-specific simulations.

You will collaborate with PhD and MSc students in a dynamic lab at TU Delft, focusing on rigorous computation, machine learning integration, and scientific software development.

Qualifications

  • PhD in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • Strong background in nonlinear continuum mechanics and FEM.
  • Experience with computational solid/soft tissue mechanics.
  • Fluent in Python, C++, and scientific computing tooling.
  • Excellent analytical and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop bio-chemo-mechanical growth and remodeling laws for cardiac tissue.
  • Implement laws in finite element cardiac mechanics frameworks.
  • Couple tissue mechanics to systemic hemodynamic inputs and neurohumoral signals.
  • Contribute to patient-specific and cohort-wide virtual twin simulations.
  • Calibrate models with sensitivity analyses and uncertainty quantification.
  • Develop reusable scientific software and disseminate findings in journals.
