Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to develop next-generation cardiac growth and remodeling models within the VITAL project. You will implement bio-chemo-mechanical laws in FE frameworks, linking myocardial mechanics with systemic inputs, to enable patient-specific and cohort simulations.

You will tailor calibration workflows, uncertainty quantification, and reduced-order modeling, while contributing to scientific software and publications within an international team at

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Strong background in nonlinear mechanics and FE modeling.
  • Experience with computational solid/soft tissue mechanics.
  • Proficient coding in Python/C++/Fortran.
  • Experience with Git and collaborative software.
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop bio-chemo-mechanical cardiac growth and remodeling laws for chronic changes in myocardial structure and function.
  • Implement these laws in finite element cardiac mechanics frameworks.
  • Couple tissue-level mechanics to systemic hemodynamic and neurohumoral inputs.
  • Contribute to patient-specific and cohort-level virtual human twin simulations.
  • Lead calibration, uncertainty quantification, surrogate modeling, and model reduction workflows.
  • Develop robust, reusable scientific software in collaboration with researchers.
