Job summary

Leiden University is seeking a Postdoctoral candidate for medicinal chemistry and chemical biology to drive a synthetic lethality program targeting EXO1. The role involves leading scaffold design, compound optimization, and collaboration with the pomplunlab and LUMC teams in a dynamic, international research setting.

The successful candidate will contribute to drug discovery efforts, publish results in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in cross-disciplinary training and career development

Qualifications

• PhD in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, or chemical biology.
• Strong background in structure-based drug design and organic synthesis.
• Experience in chemical biology probe development or chemo-proteomics is a plus.
• Proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Scientific curiosity, creativity, and goal-oriented mindset.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with an proactive attitude.
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop scaffold proposals for covalent and non-covalent inhibitors.
• Optimize novel and existing compound series for cellular testing.
