Job summary

Leiden University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral candidate in medicinal chemistry/chemical biology to target synthetic lethality. You will join an ambitious, interdisciplinary team spanning the pomplunlab and the Noordermeer group at LUMC within Leiden’s science ecosystem.

Active collaboration with LACDR and Oncode Institute provides state-of-the-art facilities (LCMS, NMR, cell culture, automated synthesis).

Qualifications

• PhD in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, or chemical biology.
• Strong background in structure-based drug design and organic synthesis.
• Experience in chemical biology probe development, chemo-proteomics, or similar is a plus.
• A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Scientific curiosity, creativity, and a goal-oriented research mindset.
• Appreciation for interdisciplinary work and a proactive collaborative attitude.
• Excellent English communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop scaffold proposals for covalent and non-covalent inhibitors.
• Optimize novel and existing compound series for cellular testing.
• Develop tool compounds for cellular target engagement assays.
• Advance candidate optimization enabling in vivo studies.
