Job summary

Delft University of Technology in Delft invites applications for a 5.4-month postdoctoral position in Nature-Inspired Architectured Concrete. The project explores 3D-printed concrete scaffolds guiding a fungal network to create living composite materials with reduced environmental impact.

You will build on ongoing work in Materials & Environment, perform simulations (e.g., Abaqus), design simple experiments, and integrate modelling with experiments to understand architecture–mechanics

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant engineering discipline with a proven publishing record.
• Experience with mechanical testing and/or numerical modelling is a bonus.
• Ability to plan, execute and communicate research effectively.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Use existing computational tools to investigate concrete architectures.
• Design and perform simple experiments to test and validate architectures.
• Combine modelling and experiments to understand architecture–mechanics relationships.
