Job summary

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to investigate myelin remodeling in brain tissue using cutting-edge microscopy.

You will work on oligodendrocyte myelin sheaths in health and disease, leveraging mouse models and collaboration with the Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center, with opportunities to publish and develop skills in imaging and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience or related field, obtained within the last four years.
  • Experience with single-cell electrophysiology and/or live functional imaging (2P/SCoRe).
  • Experience with brain-tissue preparation methods, preferably mouse models.
  • Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Experience supervising master/PhD students.
  • Proficiency with programming languages (Python, MATLAB, R) is a plus.
  • Certification under Article 9 Dutch Animals Act is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Study oligodendrocyte myelin sheaths in brain tissue in health and disease using advanced microscopy.
  • Collaborate with Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center and utilize mouse models to study myelin remodeling.
  • Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and contribute to translational aspects of the project.
