Job summary

RIVM zoekt een postdoctoraal onderzoeker voor onderzoek naar de ontwikkeling van het infant immuunsysteem en variatie in reacties op vaccinaties met behulp van single-cell RNA sequencing. De rol ligt op het snijvlak van laboratoriumonderzoek, computationele biologie en klinisch onderzoek.

Je werkt in een multidisciplinaire IMC–groep en vertaalt laboratoriumresultaten naar biologische en volksgezondheidsinzichten, met aandacht voor samenwerking en communicatie met technici en projectleiders.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Systems Biology or related field.
• Hands-on lab experience with primary cell isolation, flow cytometry, cell culture, and RNA sequencing.
• Experience in omics data analysis, preferably single-cell RNA sequencing, with R or Python.
• Analytical thinking to break down complex questions and resolve challenges.
• Planning and organizational skills to carry projects through to completion.
• Collaborative ability to communicate across disciplines and build partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the processing of blood samples for single-cell RNA sequencing.
• Perform wet lab single-cell sequencing experiments (FLEX scRNA‑seq) with technicians.
• Carry out data analysis of generated single-cell datasets, including quality control and downstream analyses.
• Interpret results in collaboration with immunology and bioinformatics experts and translate findings into public health insights.
• Connect with technicians and project leaders, ensuring smooth communication and integration of lab work and data analysis.
