Job summary

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in synthetic biology, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience with cell-free gene expression systems and/or liposomes.
  • Interest in liquid handling robots, Python and Bayesian optimization.
  • Team player and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong publication track record.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a design-build-test-learn cycle for synthetic cells.
  • Integrate liquid handling robots and high-speed microscopy with AI to optimise liposome-based cell-free systems.
  • Expand pipeline to maximise yield and robustness of cell-free expression.
  • Enable applications across the European Propel consortium to transform waste streams into biomaterials.
