TU Delft in Delft invites applications for a Postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Maritime and Transport Technology to develop data-driven and model-based approaches for integrating autonomous vessels into maritime transport and port logistics.

The role focuses on analysing interactions among onboard personnel, autonomous systems, and remote operators, and on creating CONOPS for navigation and energy management, supported by data platforms and agent-based modelling.

Qualifications

• PhD required or expected soon in mechanical engineering, maritime technology, operations research, systems and control, or related field with strong data engineering and quantitative modelling skills.
• Experience with autonomous shipping, port logistics or decision-support systems is a plus.
• Formulate and conduct independent scientific research, develop and manage research data and modelling frameworks, validate results with project partners and stakeholders, and disseminate findings through high-quality scientific publications and professional networks.
• Strong communication and writing skills in English and ability to collaborate with project partners and research institutes.
