Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for a Postdoc in Data-Driven Autonomous Shipping and Port Operations within the Department of Maritime and Transport Technology. The role focuses on data-driven and model-based methods to integrate autonomous vessels into maritime transport and port logistics, using data from vessels, sensors and environments to improve safety, efficiency and energy management.

Qualifications

PhD degree or expected PhD in mechanical engineering, maritime technology, operations research, systems and control or related field.
Strong skills in data engineering and quantitative modelling.
Experience with autonomous shipping, port logistics or decision-support systems is an advantage.
Good communication and writing skills in English and ability to collaborate with project partners.

Responsibilities

Develop data-driven and model-based approaches to support integration of autonomous vessels into maritime transport and port logistics.
Analyse data from vessels, sensors, environments and traffic to study operational and nautical complexity of autonomous vessel operations.
Identify situations where interactions between onboard personnel, autonomous systems and remote operators are critical and translate insights into CONOPS for navigation and energy management.
Contribute to architecture, management and use of the data platform supporting these activities.
