Job summary

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the Postdoc Data-Driven Autonomous Shipping and Port Operations. The role focuses on developing data-driven and model-based approaches to integrate autonomous vessels into maritime transport and port logistics.

You will work within the Department of Maritime and Transport Technology and the Researchlab Autonomous Shipping, collaborating with partners across industry and academia to build CONOPS, data platforms,

Qualifications

• PhD degree in mechanical engineering, maritime technology, operations research, systems and control, or a related field.
• Experience with autonomous shipping, port logistics or decision-support systems is an additional advantage.
• Formulate and conduct independent scientific research and disseminate findings through publications.
• Good communication and writing skills in English and ability to collaborate with project partners and research institutes.

Responsibilities

• Develop data-driven and model-based approaches for autonomous vessel integration and optimisation.
• Analyse data from vessels, sensors, environments and traffic to study operational complexity.
• Contribute to architecture, management and use of the data platform supporting these activities.
• Investigate port-call planning and logistics optimisation using agent-based modelling and scenario analyses.
