Job summary

Netherlands Cancer Institute invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join a Gray Foundation Team Science project examining BRCA1-deficient precancer. You will map genetic and phenotypic landscapes in prophylactic mastectomy specimens and validate driver candidates in vivo.

This role combines human tissue biology, single-cell genomics, spatial imaging, and functional mouse modeling to connect findings to clinical cancer interception. Amsterdam campus.

Qualifications

  • You hold a PhD in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • You are a rigorous, analytical, and quantitative scientist with a genuine interest in mechanistic in vivo research.
  • Experience with mouse models, lentiviral systems, CRISPR, or mammary gland biology is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead work on BRCA1-associated precancer using a novel mouse model to study early events of tumor initiation.
  • Quantify clone persistence, expansion, and progression via whole-mount imaging at single-cell resolution.
  • Investigate immune-epithelial interactions in precancerous ducts and their impact on tumorigenesis.
  • Translate discoveries into functionally validated driver candidates for cancer interception.
