Job summary

The Netherlands Cancer Institute invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Jacqueline Jacobs lab within the Division of Oncogenomics. Join a KWF-funded project exploring factors influencing genomic instability and their potential as cancer therapies.

The role involves hands-on molecular biology, cell culture and genetic screening to advance our understanding of telomere-driven genome instability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s (HBO) or Master degree in medical biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or a related life sciences discipline.
Hands-on experience with molecular and/or cellular biology techniques; mammalian cell culture desirable.
Experience with genome editing, microscopy, flow cytometry and/or next-generation sequencing is advantageous.
Strong affinity for laboratory-based research; accurate, organized and detail-oriented.
Able to work independently and as part of a team; good English communication.

Responsibilities

Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments including mammalian cell culture, genome editing, microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular analyses.
Support genome-wide functional genetic screening experiments and follow-up validation studies.
Collect, document and organize experimental data.
Troubleshoot and optimize experimental procedures.
Maintain laboratory stocks, equipment and shared resources.
Collaborate with PhD student and other lab members; participate in meetings.
