Job summary

Isispace is expanding its satellite ground segment software team in Delft. We are seeking a Platform Software Engineer to own the operational foundation for reliable delivery, bridging software engineering and IT operations.

You will set best practices, select tools, improve automation, and ensure availability and security across dev and production environments. You will collaborate with software and IT teams to deploy, operate, and scale infrastructure, containers, and cloud services, while

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of practical experience in IT infrastructure, platform engineering, systems engineering, or IT operations.
• Experience managing infrastructure in on‑premise and/or hybrid environments, including virtualization.
• Hands-on experience with containerized workloads (Docker or similar).
• Experience with version control (Git, self-hosted GitLab) and building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing monitoring, observability, or operational automation solutions.
• Comfortable making technical decisions and introducing new tools and processes where appropriate.
• Strong ownership mindset: independently investigates and solves unfamiliar technical challenges.
• Thrives in a small team with broad responsibilities and high autonomy; communicates well across software and IT disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and introduce tooling, processes, and alerting solutions that improve the speed, reliability, and maintainability of our software—both applications and infrastructure.
• Evaluate, maintain, and improve the infrastructure our software runs on.
• Support other software engineers with deployment pipelines, automation, and operational best practices.
• Ensure continuous satellite operations by safeguarding the availability of our infrastructure, servers, and networks.
• Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers.
• Collaborate with the IT team on integrating infrastructure services—certificates, identity providers, cloud services, and virtualization platforms—and on managing server resources and operational security to support current and future application needs.
• Help shape long‑term operational ground software practices, ensuring the organization's future operability.
