Job summary

TNO is seeking a DBA/Database Engineer in Utrecht to manage and optimise the database landscape. You will work with EDB Postgres and Oracle, ensuring availability, security and scalability while contributing to automation and platform improvements.

You will collaborate closely with DevOps, architects and platform specialists, taking ownership of initiatives. You’ll join a small, knowledgeable Platform Team within Geo IT, with opportunities to shape data infrastructure that supports subsurface

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working and thinking level.
• Experience as a DBA or Database Engineer.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB tooling (EFM, PEM, Barman).
• Experience with Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of Linux administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Experience with database upgrades, migrations, backup, recovery and high-availability solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Good command of English; Dutch preferred for permanent employment.

Responsibilities

• Managing, maintaining and optimising EDB Postgres and Oracle databases.
• Carrying out upgrades, migrations, patches and lifecycle management.
• Designing and managing backup, recovery and high-availability solutions.
• Monitoring database availability, performance and capacity.
• Analysing and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks.
• Collaborating with development teams and platform specialists.
• Contributing to automation using Puppet and Ansible; Jira/Jira Service Management for work items.
• Participating in projects related to databases, cloud platforms and infrastructure renewal.
