Job summary

TNO's Platform Team in Utrecht seeks a DBA/Database Engineer to manage, secure and optimise the database landscape across EDB Postgres and Oracle. You will contribute to monitoring, lifecycle management and automation initiatives in a collaborative setting.

The role combines database administration with platform improvements, offering ownership and the chance to impact subsurface data systems used for societal challenges in groundwater, soil quality, and energy storage.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and DBA/Database Engineer experience.
Experience with PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB tooling such as EFM, PEM and Barman.
Experience with Oracle databases.
Knowledge of Linux administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting and resolving database bottlenecks.
Good command of English; Dutch language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage, maintain and optimise EDB Postgres and Oracle databases.
Carry out upgrades, migrations, patches and lifecycle management.
Design and manage backup, recovery and high-availability solutions.
Monitor database availability, performance and capacity.
Analyse and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.
Collaborate with development teams and platform specialists to improve observability and automation.
