Overview
Join Budget Thuis as a PHP developer in our Trading development team. Help ensure that as many households as possible have an affordable energy bill by ensuring the expansion and robustness of our custom-built Trading applications. Your expertise will drive the success of our innovative energy market solutions in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What we do and how we work
We create our own software in agile teams with business collaboration. The Trading development team works closely with the operational Trading and Business Intelligence teams to manage energy trading software and to implement and deploy models for automated or algorithmic energy trading. Our software is web-based, domain-driven, connected to Swagger APIs, hosted in Docker containers on Ubuntu servers, and primarily written in PHP (Symfony framework) with small parts in Python.
Your responsibilities
- Participate in product development and stay up to date with technology and best practices
- Collaborate with the team, architect, and stakeholders to develop software for relevant business processes
- Gain understanding of the European energy markets to inform development
- Proactively engage with the operational Trading team to clarify new features
- Update older parts of the code base to current standards
- Set up and execute test scenarios
- Assist in deployments
- Identify, fix, and report bugs effectively
- Possible participation in paid stand-by shifts during weekends
What you bring
- HBO+ level in work and thinking
- At least 3 years of PHP programming experience (PHP 7+), preferably with Symfony
- Affinity with complex energy topics related to energy trading and net congestion
- Experience with frontend frameworks, Python, Docker, Linux, networking or Swagger/OpenAPI is a plus
- Familiarity with testing methodologies or automated testing is welcome
- Analytical and problem-solving thinking, attention to detail
- Strong English communication skills; Dutch is a plus
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools as needed
Practically
- 32 - 40 hours/week
- 2 days per week in the office (Monday is the fixed office day)
