Job summary

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) in Rome, Italy, will host a PhD project within the POLARIS MSCA Doctoral Network. You will be embedded in an interdisciplinary team studying preclinical therapies for megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy using human iPSC‑derived models.

Qualifications

• For this PhD, a Master’s degree in Life Sciences is required with interest in neuroscience.
• Experience with molecular biology, imaging and in vitro cell models is essential.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, plus ability to work in an international team.

Responsibilities

• Develop human in vitro models from patient and control iPSCs.
• Investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms using imaging and omics approaches.
• Support disease modelling and preclinical therapy evaluation across projects.
• Collaborate with POLARIS partners during secondments and network trainings.
• Contribute to data interpretation and manuscript preparation.
