The University of Amsterdam invites applications for a Doctoral candidate position within the REGULAIRE network in information law and platform regulation. You will conduct a legal PhD at IViR, contributing to the DSA Observatory and Democratic Digital Transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in law, political science, media and communication studies, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable interest in studying law in relation to digital tech and services.
  • Skills or interest in qualitative regulatory process tracing and interviews.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to engage in international mobility, including secondments.

Responsibilities

  • Refine research questions and design with supervision team; prepare ethics, data-management and open-science materials.
  • Collect, manage and analyse data using approved methods.
  • Complete a doctoral thesis and related outputs under REGULAIRE.
  • Participate in local and network-wide training, cohort activities and dissemination.
  • Undertake the planned three-month intersectoral secondment.
  • Contribute to the research activities of the DSA Observatory.
  • Promote research integrity, equality and FAIR data practices.
