About This Opportunity
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers PhD Position In Neuroimaging LLM Genetics And Cross Species Comparison. In the same Connectome Lab, this doctoral project asks how brain organisation varies among individuals and species and how genetic influences relate to the evolution of brain .
In the same Connectome Lab, this doctoral project asks how brain organisation varies among individuals and species and how genetic influences relate to the evolution of brain connectivity. Planned tasks include structural/diffusion/resting-state MRI processing, tractography, connectivity analysis, genetics integration including GWAS, cross-species comparisons and LLM-assisted mining of neuroimaging material. The candidate will contribute to reproducible methods and research publications. Practical and application conditions: Advertised weekly workload: 38 hours/week; Published remuneration: EUR 3,204–4,051 gross per month; Stated application date: 15 December 2026 (cutoff time not independently validated).
Who This Opportunity Is Best Suited For: Based on the documented project scope, it may particularly suit master’s graduates in neuroscience, neuroimaging, genetics, biomedical engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, AI, biology or related quantitative disciplines who are motivated to work across imaging, genetics and computational analysis.
Potential Challenges / Who May Find It Less Suitable: The project expects scientific programming and computational-data preparation; experience with FreeSurfer, FSL, GWAS, neuroimaging quality control or machine learning is especially relevant.
Overall Opportunity Assessment: The distinguishing feature is the specific combination of research questions and methods described above; applicants should weigh this focus against the documented prerequisites and working conditions.
