Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for a four-year PhD position in Multiscale Modelling of Sorption-Enhanced CO2 Hydrogenation Reactors, within the CO2URAGE programme. You will develop 3D models to predict hydrodynamics and heat/mass transfer in reactors heated electrically, collaborating with TU Delft, TNO and industry partners.

Requirements: MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Applied Physics; proven experience with reactor modelling and multiphase CFD; strong analytical mindset;

Qualifications

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Applied Physics.
  • Knowledge and proven experience with reactor modeling and multiphase CFD simulations.
  • Critical and inquisitive attitude; formulate new research questions.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently; good communication skills; fluent English; willing to learn Dutch.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models to predict hydrodynamics and heat/mass transfer in reactors.
  • Compare CFD approaches (e.g., CFD-DEM, Eulerian two-fluid) and extend models.
  • Collaborate with TU Delft, TNO and industry partners for validation and deployment.
