Job summary

Amsterdam UMC Research BV is offering a four-year PhD project focused on mixed neuropathologies in Alzheimer’s disease. You will combine human brain tissue research with advanced molecular and cellular models, collaborating with experts across neuroscience and bioinformatics.

The role demands a strong wet-lab background and a genuine interest in neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will contribute to identifying disease mechanisms and work under the guidance of neuropathology

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, biology or related field.
• Demonstrable interest in neurodegenerative diseases and neuropathology.
• Strong wet-lab background; cell culture experience is an advantage.
• Good oral and written English.

Responsibilities

• Investigate mechanisms underlying mixed neuropathologies in Alzheimer’s disease.
• Collaborate with molecular neuroscientists, neuropathology experts and bioinformaticians.
• Work with human autopsy brain tissue, transcriptomics and iPSC-based models.
