Job summary

Radboud University is offering a PhD position in mathematical physics focusing on the thermodynamics of gravitational systems away from equilibrium, including black holes and cosmological horizons. You will join the Department of Mathematics and RCNP, collaborating across mathematics, physics, and philosophy of science.

The project is funded by the John Templeton Foundation and includes teaching duties and active participation in seminars and conferences.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mathematics with a strong background in physics (preferably mathematical physics) or theoretical physics with strong mathematical background.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment across mathematics, physics, and philosophy.

Responsibilities

• As a PhD candidate, conduct fundamental research on gravitational and holographic systems out of equilibrium.
• Affiliation with the Radboud Center for Natural Philosophy (RCNP) and participation in its seminars, reading groups, and activities.
• Teaching assistant duties in mathematics and mathematical physics (~0.2 FTE) during the first three years.
