Job summary

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a PhD candidate position in the Pedernales group of Quantum Nanoscience. You will develop analytical and numerical models of the quantum dynamics of mechanical systems and their environments.

You will investigate quantum control, noise mitigation, and state protection to improve sensing, metrology, and tests of fundamental physics, collaborating with experimentalists and international partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in quantum mechanics and mathematics.
• Experience with scientific programming tools.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical and numerical models describing quantum dynamics of mechanical systems.
• Investigate quantum control and noise mitigation techniques.
• Publish work in leading journals and present at international conferences.
• Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students and develop into an independent researcher.
