Job summary

Amsterdam UMC invites applications for a doctoral candidate position within the POLARIS network to advance preclinical LNP-mRNA delivery in leukodystrophy models.

You will work across stages of preclinical research, testing delivery systems in vitro and in mice, and contribute to translational and genetic therapy development in an international team with English as the working language.

Qualifications

• Experience with molecular technologies, neuroscience and in vivo mouse studies from internships, thesis work or projects.
• Strong interest in translational neuroscience, rare disease research and genetic therapies.
• Experience with LNPs and animal models of neurological disease is an advantage.
• Accurate, reproducible research with attention to detail and ability to plan complex experiments.
• Good analytical, communication and collaboration skills in an interdisciplinary, international environment.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across stages of preclinical research for LNP-mRNA delivery systems.
• Test functionality of LNP-mRNA in vitro and study biodistribution in brain and tissues in mice.
• Conduct preclinical studies in mouse models of leukodystrophies.
• Evaluate therapeutic efficacy using neuropathology, lifespan, locomotor and behavioural studies.
• Collaborate with translational research supervisors and POLARIS partners to move approaches towards clinical application.
