Job summary

Utrecht University invites applications for a PhD position at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development to explore art–science–action integration and challenge-based learning for transformative sustainability education.

You will design and conduct an independent research programme within an interdisciplinary team, examining how knowledge, skills and artistic expression can enhance student engagement with real-world sustainability challenges and contribute to practice-oriented outputs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in sustainability science or related field.
• Strong interest in sustainability education and transformative learning.
• Analytical, academic writing and communication skills are essential.
• Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and carry out an independent research programme.
