Position: Operations Manager (Platform Ops)
Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid: 3 days onsite)
Company Size: ~150 employees
🚀 About the Role
A fast-growing EdTech scale-up is looking for a Operations Manager to sit right at the intersection of optimization ⚙️ and innovation 💡.
On one side, you’ll be the business partner to the Technical Foundations group. Your mission? Tune the engine. You’ll support platform engineers, own the operational health of our Content Engine, speed up pipelines, prioritize the right improvements, and enforce zero tolerance 🚫 for scams or low-quality content.
On the other side, you’ll turn deep operational insight into new growth opportunities. You’ll lead independent, ops-heavy initiatives from building massive course datasets to launching new content programs all designed to feed the engine 🍽️ and expand our product’s reach.
In short: you’re the link 🔗 between how the platform works and how the business grows.
🧠 What You’ll Do
🤝 Partner with Technical Foundations
- Content pipeline performance: Track cost, speed, and quality across the pipeline. Spot bottlenecks, diagnose inefficiencies, and drive improvements cross-functionally.
- Content quality & trust: Own the quality baseline. Detect and prevent infringements (e.g. scams, legal issues) and continuously improve moderation workflows.
- Infrastructure economics: Support platform engineers in monitoring and optimizing cloud infra & dev tooling costs.
- Platform defense & firefighting 🔥: Protect the platform from malicious activity (bots, traffic anomalies, abuse). You’re calm, fast, and decisive when things get spicy.
🚀 Lead Strategic Ops Projects
You’ll take ops-heavy ideas from fuzzy concept → high-performing engine. You’ll decide how to execute (AI 🤖, automation ⚡, humans 🧑 💻 or all three) and own delivery end-to-end.
This includes:
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Product, Tech, Marketing, and Ops to ship initiatives that move real business metrics.
- Data deep dives 📊: Identify growth opportunities across the marketplace through rigorous analysis.
- Operational excellence: Build a culture of speed, quality, and cost efficiency without sacrificing impact.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Math, CS, Statistics, or similar.
- 3+ years experience in Operations, Product Ops, Technical Project or Product Management (ideally in consumer marketplaces).
- Fluent in Business (KPIs, costs, ROI) and conversational in Tech (AWS, pipelines, CI/CD). You can translate between a COO and a DevOps engineer.
- Hands-on, resourceful, and experienced with data-heavy projects.
- Strong analytical skills: SQL, large datasets, and turning data into a compelling story.
- Experience with or strong curiosity for AI / LLMs 🤖 as business tools.
- Excellent cross-functional communicator who thrives in ambiguity and momentum.
- Bonus points for EdTech / B2C experience 🎓.
