AIT Worldwide Logistics is seeking an Operations Agent Gateway (Import / Export) to organize optimal transport for local and international clients, focusing on air freight. You will build relationships, secure pricing, book shipments, issue documents, and ensure compliant operations.

With at least 2 years as an air freight forwarder, you will communicate with carriers, customers, and internal teams, maintaining shipment visibility and driving continuous process improvements in a dynamic

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Air Freight Forwarder.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Fluent in English and Dutch (spoken and written).
• Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office).
• Experience with ITAR, Dangerous Goods or TSA regulations is a plus.

Overview

TheOperations Agent Gateway (Import / Export) is responsible for organizing the best means of transporting goods for our local and international clients, using all modes of transportation including road, but mainly air. In this role, the agent will develop relationships with current and prospected internal customers, investigate on and provide solutions and pricing for international transportation, negotiate services and pricing with suppliers, make bookings with suppliers, issue transportation documents/instructions, maintain full control over shipments in transit, provide pro-active customer service, be pro-active with a high emphasis on communication.The agent is expected to participate in continuous improvement activities and ensure company policies are followed, and AIT Amsterdam continues a positive work culture that makes our Company the partner of choice and a great place to work!

Responsibilities

• Research and plan the most appropriate route for shipment;
• Obtain, check and prepare documentation to meet customs requirements, packaging speculations and compliance with overseas countries’ regulations;
• Liaise with third parties in accordance with customer requirements;
• Assisting the client in the event of claim;
• Maintain visibility and control through all phases of the journey, including the unit cost analysis;
• Complete customs formalities or subcontracting services;
• Prepare files for invoicing;
• Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with various cartage agents and international partners;
• Partner with local sales and account management teams to communicate problems to customers, international partners, and other stations, as needed;
• Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met;
• Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines;
• Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies;
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;
• Contribute actively to a healthy and secure work environment by reporting unsafe/ unsecure/ unhealthy conditions and possible improvements

Qualifications

• min. 2 years of experience as a Air Freight Forwarder
• Utilizes established procedures but decides action within task
• Must be able to perform in a fast pace / high volume work environment
• Attention to detail
• Problem Solving
• Fluent oral and written English and Dutch is a must
• Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications) preferred
• Cargo Wise Software experience a plus
• ITAR, Dangerous Goods or TSA work experience / regulations
• VGB security clearance (or the ability to obtain it) is required for this position
