On-Device Voice AI QA Engineer - Embedded & Audio

Job summary

Whispp, a Leiden-based deep-tech startup, is seeking a QA engineer to own both embedded software testing and audio quality evaluation for the Whisper-to-Speech SDK. You will define regression strategies, validate on-device AI inference, and work with AI researchers and engineers to ensure low latency and natural voice output.

You'll build test harnesses, run real-time tests across devices, and document results so OEM partners can trust the product. Fluent English required; travel minimal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in QA, test engineering, or validation for embedded, mobile, or real-time systems.
• Hands-on Android testing with adb and instrumentation; Kotlin/Java a plus.
• Strong Python for test automation, tooling, and data analysis.
• Experience validating on-device AI inference (NPU/DSP, quantization) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the test strategy for the Whisper-to-Speech SDK across devices and OS environments.
• Create and execute regression test plans; specify test cases and pass/fail criteria.
• Build and run stress/soak tests for real-time latency, memory, CPU/NPU load, and thermal behavior.
• Maintain on-target validation and document defects precisely for engineering action.
• Feed findings back to AI team to inform research priorities and roadmaps.
