Job summary

Maastricht University invites applications for a PhD Candidate in NeuroAI for Auditory Neuroscience. The role bridges human neuroimaging and AI, working within NASCE and the ARCHIE lab to study how the brain transforms sounds using state-of-the-art AI models.

You will acquire and analyse 7 Tesla fMRI data, develop deep learning models, compare brain and network representations, and contribute to open, reproducible research while collaborating across an international team.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field as listed.
  • Experience in neuroimaging or AI/machine learning; willingness to learn the other field.
  • Strong programming skills and knowledge of Python.
  • Proficient English (C1) required.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire and analyse high-field neuroimaging data (7T fMRI) for natural sound perception.
  • Develop and apply AI/NeuroAI models to simulate auditory processing.
  • Relate AI representations to behavioural and brain data using modelling approaches.
  • Contribute to experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Present findings at conferences and publish in journals.
