Avalon Music, Amsterdam-based, seeks a Legal Counsel (Music) to be the legal backbone for artist-centric projects. The role blends IP, contract work, and advisory duties in a dynamic entertainment environment.

You will draft and negotiate artist contracts, review licensing and sampling issues, and advise internal teams on copyright and distribution concerns while collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• Completed HBO or WO law degree (Dutch higher professional education or university).
• Several years of relevant work experience, preferably in entertainment or music.
• Knowledge of contract law and intellectual property law; strong Dutch and English communication.

Responsabilités

• Artist contracts: drafting, reviewing, negotiating with artists, producers, and labels.
• Commercial agreements: handling brand partnerships, live performance, sync licences, and sampling.
• Advisory work: day-to-day legal advice on copyright, neighbouring rights, sampling, IP.
• Negotiation support: work with artists, managers, labels, publishers and partners to secure favorable terms.
• Risk management: identify risks early and develop practical solutions.
• Knowledge management: keep agreements updated and track relevant legislation.
