Job summary

Overstory is seeking an ML Engineering Manager to lead multiple cross‑functional teams of up to ~10 ML engineers and data scientists. You will drive technical direction, growth, and delivery without heavy hands-on coding, while diving deep when needed to support strong technical decisions.

You will help product teams evolve ML capabilities using satellite imagery and geospatial data, fostering collaboration across engineering, design and product leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building ML‑driven systems and data‑driven products.
• 3+ years of experience leading ML or data teams.
• Strong interest in climate tech and environmental impact.
• Experience in high-growth startups or scale‑ups.
• Product-minded with ability to demonstrate business impact via technology.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional ML/data teams to deliver high‑quality ML capabilities.
• Support teams working with satellite imagery and geospatial datasets.
• Grow the teams by attracting and hiring top ML/data talent.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive culture and coach team members.
• Provide regular 1:1 coaching and feedback to help others thrive.
• Partner with Product Managers to balance short- and long‑term goals.
