Job summary

The Migelien Gerritzen Fellowship at Rijksmuseum invites MA graduates, PhD students and postdoctoral candidates to conduct conservation and scientific research, focusing on the Rijksmuseum collection. It provides access to the museum’s expertise, libraries, labs and staff advisors to support the research project.

Fellows are awarded stipends of €39,000 (MA/PhD) or €45,000 (postdoctoral) for twelve months from 1 September 2026, with up to €5,000 for travel within Europe and visa costs covered.

Qualifications

• MA graduates or PhD students/fellows are eligible to apply.
• Proven research capabilities and scholarly credentials.
• Proficiency in English; second language (Dutch or German) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct conservation/scientific research on Rijksmuseum objects and artifacts.
• Collaborate with conservators, curators and scientists; aim for publication.
• Access museum resources: library, collections, laboratories; participate in workshops.
