Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Merchant Fraud Analyst in Amsterdam to identify, investigate and prevent fraudulent activities across acquiring, banking and issuing services. You will collaborate with Compliance, Product and Merchant Operations to protect the platform and its users.

You will monitor transaction patterns, develop fraud detection improvements, and guide incident response while staying current on evolving fraud trends. This role emphasizes ownership, data-driven decisions, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• 1-3 years of experience in fraud at a financial institution.
• Knowledge of multiple forms of fraud, financial crimes and scams (e.g., APP fraud, account takeovers, shopper and merchant collusion, synthetic identities).
• Willingness to make difficult decisions and quickly learn from experience; data-driven decision maker.
• Able to work independently and with others; strong cross-team collaboration across cultures.

Merchant Fraud Analyst

We are looking for an ambitious analyst to join our Merchant Fraud team. As part of the Merchant Fraud team in Amsterdam you will be working closely with Compliance, Product and other Merchant Operations teams. As a Merchant Fraud Analyst you will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activities related to our acquiring, banking and issuing services. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining the integrity of our platform and ensuring a secure and trustworthy environment for our users. The Merchant Fraud Team is responsible for detecting and mitigating fraudulent activity that scalably reduces risk for Adyen and its customers.

What you'll do

Who you are

• Fluent in spoken and written English
• 1-3 years of experience in fraud at a financial institution
• Knowledge of multiple forms of fraud, financial crimes and scams for example; APP fraud, Account take-overs, Shopper and Merchant Collusion, Synthetic identity fraud
• Willingness to make difficult decisions and quickly learn and iterate from these experiences - you are skilled at using data to drive decisions
• You are able to work both on your own and with others, taking ownership where your knowledge is needed. At the same time you are a strong collaborator who is comfortable with connecting with colleagues across different teams and cultures, sharing ideas to improve efficient teamwork.
