Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Senior Fraud Risk Management Expert to join the Financial Crime Compliance Department in Amsterdam. You will lead end‑to‑end fraud control design, conduct deep risk assessments, and monitor control effectiveness across global products.

You will partner with Operations, Product, Risk and Regulatory teams to implement pragmatic mitigations and ensure compliance with evolving schemes and regulations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in a fraud role, with track record designing controls and conducting risk assessments.
• Solid foundation in Financial Services, especially payments ecosystems, scheme rules and fraud typologies.
• Clear, fluent English communication and ability to explain complex topics simply.

To achieve this, we are looking for a Senior Fraud Risk Management Expert to join our Financial Crime Compliance Department based in Amsterdam and covering our global business. While you will engage with regulatory topics, your primary focus will be hands‑on Fraud Risk Assessments, designing end‑to‑end Fraud Control Frameworks, and assessing control effectiveness across our global products.

What you’ll do

• Guide the design and oversee the build of the end‑to‑end Fraud Control Frameworks. Define baseline fraud controls tailored to specific client segments and financial products.
• Perform deep‑dive Fraud Risk Assessments. Lead risk evaluations (e.g., Issuing Fraud risk assessments, Account Takeover, First‑Party Fraud, Application Fraud) focusing on among other customer segments, new product launches, payment channel exposures and product usage patterns.
• Assess, validate and monitor Fraud control effectiveness. Evaluate whether existing fraud controls are working effectively, supporting 1st/2nd line efforts to optimize detection capabilities and reduce false positives.
• Drive continuous improvement of the Fraud Compliance Framework. Proactively spot gaps, optimize existing controls, coordinate cross‑functional initiatives, and track progress until frameworks reach required maturity levels.
• Mature the External Fraud Governance Framework & Policies. Take full ownership of the External Fraud Policy and associated operational procedures; continuously review, update, and mature the global framework (e.g. ensure alignment with SIRA).
• Partner with Key Stakeholders. Collaborate closely with Operations, Product, Risk, and Regulatory teams to co‑create pragmatic fraud mitigations.
• Support Regulatory & Scheme Interactions. Provide expert fraud insights for regulatory inquiries, scheme reviews, and compliance audits with a global lens.
• Challenge the status quo. Proactively identify better ways to manage fraud risk for novel products and channels, balancing regulatory expectations, fraud loss reduction, user experience, and commercial growth.
• Deliver specialized Fraud training. Design and deliver targeted training on emerging fraud typologies, scheme rules, and control frameworks across the business.

Who you are

• You’re a seasoned Fraud Risk expert. You have 3+ years of hands‑on experience in a fraud role. You have a proven track record designing fraud controls, testing control effectiveness per product/segment, and conducting comprehensive fraud risk assessments (e.g., Issuing Fraud, Merchant Fraud).
• Financial Services is your world. A solid foundation in the FS sector is mandatory. Deep expertise within the payments industry—specifically acquiring/issuing ecosystems, scheme rules, and fraud typologies is a significant advantage and will enable you to accelerate in your new role.
• You’re curious and stay ahead of the curve. You genuinely enjoy keeping up with the latest Fraud trends, emerging threat vectors, and regulations, thinking critically about how they apply in a fast‑scaled platform.
• You connect with people and challenge ideas. You thrive in working with different teams and can explain complex fraud or compliance topics simply. You’re not afraid to question the status quo (in a constructive way) to get to the best solution.
• You’re a natural problem‑solver. When faced with a new product proposition or a tricky fraud control gap, your first instinct is to dig in, analyze the data, figure it out, and drive a pragmatic solution. You can juggle multiple projects without losing sight of the goal.
• Clear communication is key to everything we do. You speak and write English fluently.
