Job summary

PwC Nederland is seeking a Backend Developer to build data-heavy, AI-enabled digital products for colleagues and clients. You will deliver features end-to-end, translate designs into working software, and contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, and agile practices in a hybrid team based in Amsterdam and/or Utrecht.

You’ll work on backend systems, APIs, integrations and data services, write secure code, and help scale solutions with a focus on quality and ownership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's level of working and thinking in a relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of Python, with solid Django and/or FastAPI experience.
• Solid backend understanding, REST APIs and SQL databases.
• Experience with AI, LLMs, or agentic solutions.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests and code reviews.
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience mentoring or advising peers on development practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum (and/or SAFe) environments.
• Knowledge of security best practices and development standards.
• Ability to independently deliver features based on functional designs.
• Good analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
• A proactive mindset and comfort working with changing requirements.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a Backend Developer at PwC, you'll build and improve innovative digital products used by colleagues and clients, such as data-heavy applications and AI/agentic solutions. You'll deliver features end-to-end, from translating designs and user stories into working software, to testing, deployment support and continuous improvement. You'll join a self-steering agile team with backend, frontend, design and product ownership, where you can take ownership of software that matters.

What will you be doing?

You'll become part of an agile, hybrid team working from our offices in Amsterdam and/or Utrecht. The team collaborates with various tech teams in the different Lines of Service. Together with your team, you're responsible for creating new solutions from ideation to production with a strong focus on (Agentic) AI. This means you're involved in developing new features, integrating systems, and scaling and improving solutions, all with the aim of quickly delivering innovative digital products without compromising on quality.

Your work will include:
