Job description

Medior Backend Developer

Groenlo, Netherlands

32 - 38 hrs

Hybrid

What are you going to do?

At MediKIT, we believe in creating innovative solutions that transform the way primary care is delivered. Our mission is to give GP practices the clarity and peace of mind they need to provide high-quality care through our GP information system, MediKIT.

We build MediKIT entirely on open standards. The system is based on HL7 FHIR, a standard for healthcare records and data exchange. Our starting point is a standardised system that allows other parties to connect easily. Alongside centralised data storage, we use microservices and a FHIR-based React frontend.

We are looking for an experienced backend developer to work in our integration and data import domain. As the MediKIT team is still small, you will have plenty of opportunity to take ownership. You will work on a system that enables our customers to transition seamlessly from their existing system to MediKIT and/or on our own open integration platform, which external parties can connect to.

Your responsibilities
  • Developing new components for our integration and import platform in Python and Kotlin.
  • Regularly carrying out data migrations for new customers. These take place in the evening, with time off in lieu.
  • Maintaining regular contact with external partners about new integrations, the capabilities of our development platform, and connections to external systems.
  • Improving MediKIT’s scalability and performance.
  • Improving the backend architecture and development pipeline.
  • Working closely with experts across different domains.
  • Actively contributing to an open team culture that encourages learning and offers plenty of room for initiative.
Your team

As a Backend Developer, you will be part of MediKIT: a close-knit, multidisciplinary team using technology to transform primary care. You will join a smaller subteam focused specifically on the software’s integration domain. Together with developers, support colleagues, implementation specialists and domain experts, you will work on an integrated platform that truly supports healthcare professionals. We combine the energy and pace of a startup with Nedap’s stability and resources. The team works across the Netherlands and beyond, meeting regularly at our locations in Groenlo, Nijmegen or Utrecht.

Our offer

As a Backend Developer at Nedap, you will contribute to our purpose: helping people become happier and more successful in their professional lives. The salary range for this role is €4,000 to €6,000 gross per month, based on a full-time employment contract of 38 hours per week. Your salary will depend on your relevant knowledge and experience. In addition, you will receive a 13th-month payment, a good pension plan, and profit sharing, with the opportunity to become a Nedap shareholder. At Nedap, trust and autonomy are fundamental to how we work. That is why you have the freedom to manage your own working hours and vacation days. We also invest in your personal and professional development. You will receive a comprehensive introduction to Nedap, and we encourage you to keep learning and developing throughout your career.

Required Skills

You enjoy developing and maintaining applications and tackling challenging problems. You are motivated to build solutions that remain scalable and maintainable over time.

  • At least 5 years of experience developing backend applications.
  • Experience building scalable, maintainable applications or rebuilding existing applications to achieve this.
  • Experience using AI in your workflow is a plus.
  • Experience with Python and Kotlin is a plus.
  • Full-stack development experience and knowledge of React and TypeScript are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Azure, GitHub Actions and PostgreSQL with JSONB storage is a plus.
  • A good command of English for professional purposes. Dutch is a strong plus.
Good to know

You are available for 32–38 hours per week. Hybrid working, including remote work, is common at Nedap. Together with your team, you coordinate your working hours to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
