Job summary

Orion Engineering in Venlo, Netherlands, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to design mechanical and mechatronic printer units and positioning/transport systems in R&D projects. You own the design from concept to verification, collaborating with multiple disciplines and using simulations to validate performance on prototypes.

The role requires a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, strong analytical skills, structured thinking, and fluent written/spoken English. Availability: 32–40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and mechatronic printer units (positioning systems, media transport systems, dynamic structures).
• Collaborate with other disciplines to create improved designs within the product architecture.
• Balance time, quality, accuracy and cost in development work.
• Take ownership of the design from A to Z.
• Work with colleagues from other disciplines and review ideas.
• Use simulations to test and review designs.
• Fit prototypes in machines and run experiments to validate designs.
