Job summary

Signify Nederland in Eindhoven is offering an exciting Mechanical Engineer Internship focused on 3D printing and product design. You will work with our product development and printer & material teams in an industrial R&D setting, turning ideas into functional CAD models and physical prototypes.

You’ll gain ownership over projects, with mentoring, a paid internship allowance, and opportunities for international exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering with interest in product design and additive manufacturing.
• Experience or interest in 3D printing.
• Familiarity with CAD tools like Solid Edge or SolidWorks for CAD modelling.
• Enjoy hands-on engineering and building/testing physical prototypes.
• Self-propelling, proactive and able to structure own work; ownership and accountability.
• Collaborative and curious to learn in diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Available for at least 6 months in Signify office in Eindhoven.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical concepts for new 3D-printed product archetypes using Solid Edge.
• Translating ideas into functional CAD models and physical prototypes.

This is an exciting internship opportunity for you to light the way as a Mechanical Engineer Intern (3D Printing & Product Design) in Eindhoven with Signify.

In this role, you will work at the forefront of additive manufacturing innovation, contributing directly to the development of new mechanical features and product archetypes for our next-generation FDM printer and material platform. What you design and prototype during this internship may be directly used in future product development programs.

You will collaborate closely with our product development team (engineering and product management) and the printer & material team, gaining hands-on experience in an industrial R&D environment where ideas rapidly move from concept to physical prototypes.

This internship is meant for a Mechanical Engineer student who wants to work on the technical product design, but not on the aesthetic design of the product.

More about you

• You are a Bachelor's or Master's student in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), with a strong interest in product design and additive manufacturing.
• You have experience or a strong interest in 3D printing.
• Familiarity with CAD tools as Solid Edge or SolidWorks (or similar) for CAD modelling.
• You enjoy hands-on engineering and are comfortable building and testing physical prototypes.
• You are self-propelling, proactive, and able to structure your own work, showing ownership and accountability.
• You collaborate openly, are curious to learn, and enjoy working in diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Creative and self-motivated mindset.
• Fluent in English is required (spoken & written).
• You are available to do an internship for at least 6 months in our Signify office in Eindhoven.
