Job summary

Heerema Marine Contractors in Leiden is seeking an MDM Specialist to structure and enhance how master data is managed across customers, employees and products.

You will lead central MDM efforts, guide Data Stewards, and align stakeholders to embed governance and data standards across ERP-driven projects, with SAP experience preferred. The role combines business & IT collaboration in a growing data organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Master Data Management, data governance and data quality.
• Strong understanding of MDM concepts, governance frameworks and operating models.
• Experience working in an ERP-driven, project-based environment, preferably with SAP.
• Ability to translate business needs into sustainable data standards, rules and processes.
• Experience guiding and influencing professionals without direct line-management responsibility.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical, structured and continuously focused on improvement.
• Decisive, able to set priorities and balance governance with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate central MDM activities across Heerema.
• Functionally guide and support Data Stewards (currently 2, with potential growth).
• Ensure alignment and consistency across different master data domains.
• Define and embed data governance, standards and ways of working.
• Improve data quality through frameworks, KPIs and monitoring.
• Design and optimize MDM processes (create/change/retire).
• Drive the adoption of Master Data Management across the business.
• Collaborate with business, IT and stakeholders to implement and sustain improvements.
