Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services seeks a Manager of Financial Operations to lead the Accounting and Treasury division within the Eastern/Labrador Grenfell Zone. The role supports the Director with leadership, vision and direction for payroll, revenue, accounts payable, reporting and controls.

The position emphasizes preparation of financial statements for the Eastern Zone and related Foundations, along with banking and treasury responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration is required.
• CPA designation and good standing with CPA is required.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting or finance in the last seven years.
• Previous leadership and management experience is required.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems (preferably Meditech).
• Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Guidelines and GAAP.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.

The manager leads the Accounting and Treasury division within the Eastern/Labrador Grenfell Zone of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services. The manager, as part of the Financial Management Team, is accountable to assist the Director in providing leadership, vision and direction for the department, which encompasses payroll, revenue and collection, accounts payable, client services, resident trust, financial reporting and financial controls and is responsible for the delivery of quality financial services to all areas of the Eastern Zone and related entities. This position is accountable for the preparation of financial statements and schedules for the Eastern Zone, Nursing Homes, and related Foundations and directing the operations of the General Ledger. Financial statements are a key tool for budgetary planning and control for the organization. This position is also responsible for banking and treasury functions for the organization.

Qualifications

• Education
• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration is required.
• Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation as well as a member in good standing with the Certified Professional Accountants Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is required.
• Experience
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the last seven (7) years in accounting or finance is required.
• Previous leadership and management experience is required.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems (preferably Meditech).
