Job summary

Nike Netherlands seeks a Manager, Long-Term Sickness to lead the Wellbeing & Prevention team for a 9-month fixed-term assignment. You will coach three specialists, manage a personal portfolio of complex sickness absence, reintegration, and accommodation cases, and collaborate with Occupational Health providers.

You will be the senior SME for managers, employees, and People Solutions partners on long-term sickness processes, ensuring compliance with Dutch law and Nike policies while driving

Qualifications

  • Experience in occupational health, disability management, wellbeing, accommodations, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch long-term sickness legislation, reintegration requirements, employer obligations, and accommodations practices.
  • Experience managing complex employee cases and advising managers on sensitive situations.
  • Experience managing external vendors and driving performance against service expectations and operational goals.
  • Strong stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within a multinational or matrixed organization.
  • Fluent English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of three Wellbeing & Prevention specialists, ensuring high-quality service delivery and consistent case management practices.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of complex long-term sickness, reintegration, and accommodation cases.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert for managers, employees, and People Solutions partners on long-term sickness and accommodation processes.
  • Own the relationship with Occupational Health providers and Company Doctors, including governance, service reviews, escalations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch legislation, Nike policies, and operational requirements throughout the sickness management lifecycle.
  • Partner closely with Payroll, Employment Legal, Labor Compliance, Employee Relations, and People Solutions teams to resolve complex cases and mitigate risk.
  • Analyze operational trends, vendor performance metrics, and case insights to identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced employee outcomes.
  • Support EMEA accommodations processes by providing expertise, guidance, and operational support where required.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives, including process simplification, automation opportunities, governance improvements, and enhanced employee experiences.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will lead Nike's Netherlands Wellbeing & Prevention team within the EMEA Global Process Delivery (GPD) organization during a temporary leave coverage assignment. Managing a team of three specialists, you will work closely with People Solutions, Payroll, Employment Legal, Labor Compliance, Employee Relations, Occupational Health providers, Company Doctors, and business leaders across Nike.

This role serves as a critical connection point between employees, managers, and external health partners, ensuring a compliant, employee-centered, and efficient experience throughout the long-term sickness and accommodations journey. While the primary scope supports the Netherlands, the role may also provide expertise and support for accommodations processes across EMEA.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced people leader with deep expertise in long-term sickness management, accommodations, occupational health, and employee wellbeing. You bring a strong understanding of Dutch sickness legislation and reintegration requirements and can confidently navigate complex employee situations while balancing employee care, compliance obligations, and business needs.

You are a trusted advisor who builds strong relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and can influence decisions through expertise, data, and practical solutions. You enjoy leading teams, coaching others, and improving operational processes while maintaining a high bar for service delivery.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment, managing escalations, partnering with external vendors, and identifying opportunities to enhance both employee experience and operational excellence.
