Job summary

Triton Navigation, a Dutch maritime company, is seeking a Senior Finance Leader to take ownership of the full accounting and finance function from Amsterdam. You will deliver accurate financial insights, manage month-end close, prepare statements, and partner with management and the Board.

Responsibilities include overseeing GL, AP/AR, VAT, tax, audits, and internal controls, driving improvements, and supporting budgeting and vessel-level analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial control or financial reporting.
• Strong hands-on accounting background with extensive general ledger experience.
• Thorough understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, provisions and closing procedures.
• Experience preparing financial statements and audit documentation.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting system knowledge.
• Professional fluency in English.

Job Description

• Take overall responsibilityfor the accounting function, including general ledger accounting and daily finance operations
• Review, prepare and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions and reconciliations
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and ensure the integrity of financial results
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payment processes
• Prepare financial statements, management reports and supporting schedules for audits and statutory reporting
• Analyze financial performance and explain variances against budgets and forecasts
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including vessel-level financial analysis
• Monitor cash positions and oversee day-to-day banking activities
• Coordinate VAT filings, corporate tax matters and compliance requirements with external advisers
• Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary contact for auditors and other finance professionals
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, financial procedures and reporting processes
• Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting tools and accounting processes
• Supervise and support the accounting team while remaining actively involved in operational accounting activities
• Provide financial insight and recommendations to management and the Board

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
• Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial control or financial reporting
• Strong hands-on accounting background with extensive general ledger experience
• Thorough understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, provisions and closing procedures
• Experience preparing financial statements and audit documentation
• Strong management reporting, budgeting and analytical skills
• Practical knowledge of cash management and banking processes
• Experience managing external audits and interacting with auditors and advisers independently
• Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting system knowledge
• Professional fluency in English
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of a broad finance function within a lean organization
• Previous experience within shipping, maritime, logistics or another international asset-intensive business is highly desirable
• Knowledge of Dutch accounting regulations, VAT and statutory reporting requirements.
• IFRS and Dutch Gaap knowledge
