Job summary

Progressive is seeking an experienced Manager Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation to strengthen the Maintenance department at its expanding facilities. You will lead safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance across electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems to maximise plant availability.

  • Minimum 5-8 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Proven track record in leading maintenance teams and improving performance.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for E&I and automation assets.
  • Lead fault investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Coach and develop a maintenance team, including workforce planning and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards (ATEX, NEN, IEC).
  • Manage process-safety-related systems (HAZOP, LOPA, Layers of Defence).
  • Drive TPM, RCM, predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and monitor department performance.
  • Select and manage external contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation in a CMMS.

Due to the expansion of industrial production facilities and the development of additional manufacturing capacity, an experienced Manager Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation is sought to strengthen the Maintenance department.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Manager Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective management of all maintenance activities related to electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems. The role ensures maximum plant availability, operational excellence, and compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for E&I and automation assets.
  • Lead fault investigations and root cause analyses to deliver sustainable technical solutions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance professionals, including workforce planning and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, including ATEX, NEN, and IEC requirements.
  • Manage process safety-related systems and standards, including HAZOP, LOPA, and Layers of Defence.
  • Drive continuous improvement through TPM, RCM, predictive maintenance, and reliability-focused initiatives.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and monitor departmental performance.
  • Select, evaluate, and manage external contractors and technical suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance documentation within a CMMS environment.
  • Advise management on equipment replacement, modernization, and capital investment projects.
  • Participate in on-call duty and provide support outside business hours when required.
About You

You are a pragmatic and results-oriented maintenance leader who combines strong technical expertise with proven people management skills. You are capable of operating effectively in a dynamic industrial environment and have a strong focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5-8 years of maintenance experience within an industrial production environment (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in a people leadership role, including team management, coaching, performance management, and workforce planning (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated track record in managing maintenance teams and improving maintenance performance (mandatory).
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, instrumentation, and high- and low-voltage installations.
  • Experience with maintenance methodologies such as TPM, RCM, and condition-based maintenance.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Experience within a process industry, chemical, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
