About the role
Do you have a strong background in controls, mechatronics and industrial automation? Are you excited by complex machines where software, electronics and mechanics need to work together seamlessly?
Trinamics is looking for an experienced Machine / Industrial Automation Engineer to work on high-performance machines and autonomous modules used in demanding high-tech environments.
You will be responsible for designing and implementing control and automation concepts, coordinating autonomous subsystems and ensuring robust machine behavior under a wide range of operating conditions.
This is a Lead Engineer-level position for someone who enjoys working at the interface between mechatronics and software and who can translate complex system behavior into practical, scalable solutions.
What you will do
- Design and optimize control and automation logic for complex mechatronic systems.
- Develop sequencing, scheduling and state-based models for machine behavior.
- Coordinate autonomous subsystems and ensure consistent system-level operation.
- Analyze system network behavior, communication flows and timing constraints.
- Develop strategies for fault handling, damage control and safe recovery.
- Design mode-switching behavior for hybrid systems with multiple operating states.
- Define and implement calibration, performance monitoring and diagnostic concepts.
- Build and validate dynamic and simulation models using model-based engineering.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to deliver integrated machine solutions.
- Contribute to the technical direction of projects and act as a bridge between different engineering disciplines.
What you bring
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Controls, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Affinity with or experience in software development and the ability to bridge mechatronics and software engineering.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience with:
- Sequencing, scheduling and state modelling
- Coordination of autonomous systems
- System networks and communication
- Fault handling and damage control
- Mode switching in hybrid systems
- Experience with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Siemens NX, Enterprise Architect, UML Designer and Python.
- Experience in high-tech environments such as semiconductor equipment, autonomous robotics or precision positioning is a strong advantage.
- A structured and analytical way of working, combined with a practical and solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with specialists across multiple disciplines.
What you can expect
- A challenging Lead Engineer-level position within high-tech machine development.
- The opportunity to work on advanced automation and mechatronic systems.
- A salary between €5,000 and €6,500 gross per month, depending on your experience, education and seniority.
- A multidisciplinary engineering environment where you can have a direct technical impact.
- The opportunity to work on complex systems where automation, software and mechatronics come together.
